瓦溪镇在广东省河源市紫金县中部，秋香江中游，镇政府驻瓦溪圩，下辖1个社区和16个行政村。[1][2] 它的前身是1961年从九和公社分出的瓦溪公社，1993年改称镇；2003年8月原九树镇并入后，镇域扩大，辖区总面积据百度百科为230平方千米。[1][2] 镇内有始建于南宋的南母寺，也有抗日战争时期的上东交通站旧址。[3][4]

历史沿革[edit]

博雅地名网的历史沿革写道，这一带明代称温子约，属古名都；清代沿袭旧制；民国时，辖地分属两仪、下黄砂、上黄砂三个乡。新中国成立初期，从1949年6月起到1952年5月止，各地分别由附城、蓝塘两处管辖；1952年6月划为紫金第五区。[2]

1958年建人民公社时，这里归九和公社管；1961年4月另设瓦溪公社。其后的改动依次为：1983年9月公社撤销、改设区；其后区变为乡，再由乡变为镇，两页的年份不一：沿革页写1984年改乡、1992年设镇，镇概况写1987年4月改乡、1993年10月设镇。两种说法并录。[2][5]

原九树镇在2003年8月并入瓦溪镇，今天的九树、公坑、洪田、椒坑、茶岗、红光等村即由此归瓦溪镇管理。[2][6]

镇名取自镇政府所在的瓦溪圩。博雅地名网引南宋耐得翁《都城纪胜》「瓦者，野合易散之意也」的解释：此地原是各种小店聚集、人们逢社日祭祀时集会游乐、散去又聚的所在，旁边又有溪水，故称瓦溪圩。[2]

地理环境[edit]

镇在县境中部。百度百科称其东邻龙窝，南接惠东县宝口，西连义容、九和，北靠紫城，离县城19公里，省道S120沿秋香江穿过镇域；气候为亚热带季风气候。[1] 博雅地名网的镇概况则记1998年全镇面积132.4平方公里（含山林约1.2万公顷、耕地825.4公顷），当时九树镇尚未并入，所以两处面积差别很大。[5]

人口[edit]

1998年，全镇设10个管理区，4384户，18582人。[5] 户籍人口在2018年末是36911人；到2020年6月，镇下设一个社区、十六个行政村。[1] 第七次全国人口普查（2020年）的结果，博雅地名网记为1.65万人，在县内各镇中居第10位；与上述户籍人口相差较大，两个数字并录。[2]

经济[edit]

1998年前后，镇里以农林业为主，毛竹、松脂、铅锌矿和水力是主要资源。1993年冬曾组织人力到上东开采铅锌矿，因交通和资金问题于1994年停工；工业以小水电为主，鸡毛笼、莞溪、围澳三座电站合计装机1000千瓦。[5]

2014年，全镇地区生产总值为1.08亿元，农业占绝大部分，农民人均纯收入7728元。[1] 2024年镇政府总结称：高标准农田建了6594亩，粮食播种1.9万亩，收获1.1万吨；重点扶持茶叶、油茶和黄喉拟水龟，并以「瓦溪记忆」为土特产品牌，牛湖金萱茶、胜记腐竹、龟苓膏、龟板酒和南母仙茶等在球赛场边的展台展出。[7] 2023年，镇里引进茶岗的民宿休闲庄园、墩头坑的生态农业园等项目，新龙的有机肥加工等项目也在加快推进。[8]

名胜古迹[edit]

南母寺（古称庙祖石）在洪田村椒坑一带，建于海拔约800米的花岗岩上，是一座天然岩洞寺庙，据《紫金年鉴》始建于南宋淳熙五年（1178年），现存清光绪十三年（1887年）重建的记载。从广场到庙堂有432级石阶，周围有5000多亩常绿阔叶古木林，寺旁洞窟长约1公里。[3][9] 2024年镇政府把洪田村南母寺森林公园列为在建的休闲旅游项目。[7]

上东交通站旧址在上东村银场叶家祠，抗日战争期间，紫金地方党组织靠这个交通站传送情报，站里有十多名队员。叶家祠清代所建，2004年重修。[4] 2024年，镇里整治了交通站周边环境，布置了革命旧（遗）址宣传栏，并举办东江纵队银场交通站徒步活动；上东村的文笔塔同样被列入开发的旅游项目。[7]
