杨子坑村在埔前镇205国道旁，辖地约8平方公里，旧名羊屎坑，现名据传与清嘉庆年间一位秀才有关。[1][3]

地名由来[edit]

据传，清嘉庆十六年（1811年），书生陈勋阁考中秀才，在宴席上提议把羊屎坑改作杨祖坑，以光耀宗族；后来“祖”字讹为“子”，成了今名。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

1963年，杨子坑脱离河背大队自成一队；1983年改乡，1987年村委会成立，1990年又设管理区，1999年区撤销，村委会保留至今。[2]

村情[edit]

村有林地约3500亩、耕地2300多亩，约486户2530人，自然村小组有6个：杨子坑、新陂、三中、竹墩、深潭、达石。村民收入主要来自种养和在附近工厂务工，村集体年收入约10万元，党员63名。[1]该村被列入2018年度广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位，时间是2019年9月。[1]
