东埔街道属广东省河源市，由源城区管辖，处在河源市区的中心地带，河源市委、市政府设在这里。[1][3] 辖区东临东江，南接新丰江，西面以205国道为界，北面通往东源县仙塘镇，总面积约38平方千米，辖15个社区和3个行政村。[1][2][3]

街道前身是东埔镇，1997年3月撤镇分设，成为河源新城区的主体。2020年第七次全国人口普查时，常住人口24.73万人，在源城区各街道镇中人口最多。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

东埔之名出自清代：当地当时归大州都东埔约管，因在县城之东、隔江相望，距县城约1千米，便叫“东埔”。[1] 民国时期设东埔乡；新中国成立之初，仍是河源县第一区的东埔乡。[1]

1958年这里成立东埔公社，其后相继改为区、镇：先是1983年11月的东埔区，到1987年3月又撤区设镇。1997年3月，省政府批准取消东埔镇，原辖地一分为三，即本街道、源西街道与源南镇。[1] 此后街道辖下又陆续增设社区：永康社区2017年成立，永祥、文昌两社区2019年设立，永昌社区2022年设立。[1]

地理环境[edit]

街道位于东江与新丰江交汇处一带的河源市区，东倚东江，南临新丰江。东埔桥和珠河大桥跨新丰江，把新市区与老城区连在一起；胜利大桥跨东江，通向河源大学城。[2][3] 205国道、京九铁路（广梅汕铁路）和东环路都从境内经过。[2]

各来源的数字口径不同。博雅地名网所录街道概况（成文年份未注）给出的总人口约18.1万人，其中户籍13.2万、常住约16.6万；百度百科说到2020年末，总人口约23.6万，户籍13.6万，常住约18.2万；而2020年的第七次全国人口普查，在街道内数得24.73万人。[1][2][3]

第三产业在街道经济中占优势，市区最大的两个商圈都在辖区：万隆城购物中心，以及以坚基购物广场为核心的市商业中心。[2] 2018年的数据：外贸进出口9160万美元，规模以上工业增加值为15017万元（增速13.7%），全年固定资产投资135559万元。[2] 到2019年，工业增加值降为1.5亿元左右（增速4.2%），而投资额达35.07亿元，比上年翻了一倍多。[3]

文化教育[edit]

据博雅地名网转录的街道概况，辖区内直属中学4所，小学7所，民办学校4所，幼儿园36所。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

河源文化广场建于2002年，在东江与新丰江交汇处，占地20.48万平方米，分中心区、东翼区、西翼区三部分，是河源最早的大型休闲公园。[5] 桃花水母大剧院在越王大道139号，坚基集团出资2.3亿元兴建，2015年11月19日启用，有1200个座位，百度百科称它是粤东北地区第一座按国家甲级标准建的专业剧院。[4] 河源客家文化公园规划占地130公顷，布局为“一轴两像三湖四馆”，轴线上立有赵佗与孙中山两座塑像。[6] 博雅地名网的街道概况另把全民健身广场、客家文化公园也列为旅游点，并提到当地有号称“亚洲第一高喷”和“中华第一灯柱”的景观，这是该网页的说法。[2]

街道下辖永福、永安、永和路、文昌等社区和高塘、太阳升、东埔3个行政村，村与社区的情况见各自条目。其中丰源社区是新丰江水库移民的安置点，太阳升村也由库区移民而来。[7][8]
