村民开垦荒地，由分散的居民点合并成村。[1][2]1949至1951年属第四区（碣石区），1952年成立湖东区华美乡，1958年公社化后称华美大队，1983年起依次称农管区、村委会、管理区，1999年定为村委会。[2]
