石牌社区在汕尾市海丰县大湖镇东南部，距镇政府不到300米，面朝碣石湾，背靠妈宫山，西邻山脚村，东接新置村。[1]清康熙十七年（1678年）立村，旧称“石排”，1987年起称石牌，2006年改建为社区。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村后山坡上巨石叠连，俗称“狮球”，先民据此把村子叫作“石排”，最初搭茅寮而居，故又称石牌寮。[1]博雅地名网另记其由陆丰下英一带的人迁来，因在村口立一块石碑而得名“石牌寮”。[2]

1964年石牌与新置合为“石新大队”，1971年两村分开，名称恢复为“石排”。有村民嫌“石排”不吉利，而村背有一面高陡石壁可作标志，1987年改称“石牌”，同年7月设居委会；2006年改为社区。[1]博雅地名网的沿革说法略有出入：1964年自大德大队析出置石牌大队，1998年又复设居委会沿用至今。[2]

经济与文化[edit]

土地是冲积沙质土，居民早年以海上捕捞为主，兼种农作。该社区原有渔船五十多艘，后来只剩十多艘，且改在内河作业；1997年以后以池塘海水养殖和浅滩捕捞为特色。据县政府网站，2008年经济总收入约1121万元，人均年收入3200元；耕地800多亩，全是旱田，海岸线3000多米。[1]

民间舞狮队成立于1934年，白字戏剧团创办于1962年8月，剧团至今仍有演出，是社区主要的传统文化。[1]2021年12月，石牌社区获广东省爱卫会授予的“2021年广东省卫生村”称号。[2]
