村名取自主村岗下围的「岗围」二字；该大队1969年从环东大队分出。[1]

人口与经济[edit]

全村辖10个村民小组，在册321户、1426人，总面积4平方公里，耕地550亩；特色收入有西瓜，上一年农村经济总收入420万元。[1]2019年9月，岗围村列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
