大竹村属梅州市丰顺县八乡山镇，在丰顺县西南部。博雅地名网载有该村的户数和人口：8个村民小组，在册387户，2218人。[1]

据博雅地名网，全村总面积22.18平方千米，耕地约420亩；年平均气温15度，年降雨量约1900毫米。[1]村里的经济作物以红薯、竹、木、水稻等为主，所载上一年全村经济总收入952万元。

历史沿革[edit]

地名由来：村名来自下四乡中的大竹乡，村民一直沿用这一叫法。[1]

大竹原为下四乡之一。公社化的1958年，方吉并入大竹，称大竹大队；此后上、下八乡于1973年分设公社，方吉独立出去，粗石坑也单设大队；直到1983年，大竹同粗石坑再合为一乡，叫大竹乡。[1]

荣誉[edit]

  • 2017年10月，被省爱国卫生运动机构评为「第一批广东省卫生村」。[1]
