长教村是广东省梅州市大埔县湖寮镇下辖的行政村，位于湖寮镇东北部（县城东北）。原写作「长窖」，因村落地形像长方形的地窖得名，「窖」与「教」同音，后改为长教。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

据村情，南宋末年（1264—1294年）廖姓从上杭迁入，开居建村。明代为大埔县清远都莒村社的长窖村，清代归清远都同仁社；民国属同仁区莒村乡；1958年10月为湖寮公社长教生产大队；1983年底改成长教乡（属湖寮区）；村级建制此后依次是1986年的村委会、1988年的管理区和1998年起的村民委员会，沿用至今。[1]

经济[edit]

全村分20个村民小组，在册365户、1423人，总面积10.07平方千米，耕地781亩（村情页，未注明年份）。种植水稻、蔬菜、蜜柚和烤烟，种果、养猪是特色收入，页面称上一年农村经济总收入700万元。[1]
