江湖镇是广东省茂名市化州市中部的镇，下辖1个社区、8个行政村。[1][2]1988年由乡改镇，镇名取自圩东的湖泊与圩西的罗江。[2][4]

历史沿革[edit]

江湖圩原叫大圩，隋唐时期曾热闹一时，后来衰落。清乾隆元年（1736年），化州亭子的李智亭迁来建铺经商，圩市重新兴起，这一说法出自《李氏族谱》。圩东有湖，西临罗江，江与湖合起来成了名字。[2]

江湖乡1932年始设，隶化县第五区，乡政府在江湖圩。1942年至1953年8月，江湖与连界合设连江乡，乡公所驻连界圩。1953年8月复设江湖乡，归化县七区管辖；1958年9月并入林尘人民公社，1961年9月重设江湖乡，隶林尘区。[2][4]

1963年1月林尘区撤销，改设林尘人民公社，并从中划出江湖人民公社。1983年10月撤社设区，1987年2月撤区设乡，1988年撤乡设镇，沿用至今。[1][4]

地理环境[edit]

镇域东北为丘陵，西南是平原，西北有罗江流过。[2]百度百科称镇东面与合江镇、林尘镇接壤，西面与高州市交界；博雅地名网则写作东邻高州，两处方位说法不一。[1][2]面积一说57.81平方千米，一说约57.6平方千米。[1][2]

人口民族[edit]

2019年末户籍人口33098人。[1]按第七次全国人口普查结果，博雅地名网记江湖镇人口约2.1万人，在化州市各街道、乡镇中排第20位。[2]

经济[edit]

博雅地名网的镇概况写到，集镇面积2.8平方公里，有化合线穿过全境；江湖、连界两座自来水厂日供水量合计3000立方米。农业上形成了果、蔗、桑、菜、茶、渔、畜等生产基地；镇内有化北地区最大的红砖生产集团，设16条生产线，另有灯饰、塑花、竹器编织等企业358家，矿产有红泥和低燃煤。[3]连界圩的牛市在粤西有名。[3]

2017年11月的数字：全镇税收145.8万元，城乡居民存款5.57亿元。[1]

荣誉[edit]

江湖镇是革命老区镇。[3]2022年1月，被命名为2021年度广东省卫生城镇。[2]
