长岐镇在广东省茂名市化州市的东南部，地处鉴江平原，下辖1个社区和13个行政村。[1][8]它与湛江市吴川市的另一个长岐镇相邻，两镇之间以一条街为界，茂名与湛江两市的市界从镇区中穿过。[9]镇名出自长岐村，据说最早的居民在宋代由福建迁来。[1]农业以北运菜闻名。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

早期的隶属见于博雅地名网转录的沿革：西汉时归高凉县，东汉至陈归高兴县，隋开皇九年（589年）之后归石龙县；明清时分作申一二都和申一三都，同属化州缙绅乡。[3]进入民国，1928年在此设旺岭乡及南安的中、东、南、西、北五乡，隶化县第二区；1942年合并成南安、南岐两乡，转隶第一区。[3]

新中国成立后，这两乡先后属化县东区和第一区；1953年又析为石宁、霞山、旺岭、长岐、南安、南岭六乡。[3]此后南安、东安两乡在1958年9月并入同庆人民公社，1961年9月分别改建公社，仍在同庆区之下。[3]1963年1月区被撤销、公社合并，长岐人民公社由此成立，社址设在长岐圩，下辖12个生产大队；1983年10月政社分设，成为长岐区；1987年2月区改为镇。[3]

地名由来[edit]

据博雅地名网所录地名资料，南宋嘉定年间（1208年至1224年），福建泉州晋江人洪康禹出任化州路判官，任满后在鉴江下游江心的一块涌地上定居。因江水在此分出支流，当地称“岐”，于是取名“化邑岐阳”。后来江水屡次泛滥，村民迁到堤岸上居住，村名改为长岐，既指长堤之畔，也取与“长期”谐音、安居长久之意。其后在村子东南设圩，圩以村名，镇再以圩名。[1]

地理环境[edit]

镇域总面积约37平方公里，位于化州市东南部的鉴江平原；广湛高速公路和梅石公路在境内相交。[1][2]按第七次全国人口普查（2020年），全镇人口为4.18万人，在化州市各街道、镇中排第15位。[1]

经济[edit]

农业以北运菜最为出名，是化州市主要的北运菜产区之一；花生、水稻、家禽和水产养殖也形成了规模，蚕桑、甜玉米等也有发展。[2]工业方面，羽绒、生物制品、制鞋和线槽是乡镇企业的主要门类，轧钢、铝锭、藿香油、竹器、爆竹以及建筑、运输业也有一定规模。[2]据博雅地名网所述，该镇曾是广东省工业卫星镇，也是茂名乡镇企业中的“领雁镇”。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

镇内出土的一件汉代独木舟，被列为省级保护文物。[2]

长岐古塔指镇内的两座塔，列为茂名市文物保护单位：[4]题雁塔俗称八角楼，在南安圩东南的田边水畔，为三层八角形砖塔，高约6米，底层嵌有进士李士周撰写的《题雁塔记》；塔先为木结构，同治年间改建为砖塔，时间各资料记作1871年、1872年或1873年。[4][5]旺岭古塔也称八角楼，在旺岭桥边，是明万历庚辰年（1580年）建的覆钵式塔，分两层，底层为报德祠，二层为文帝阁，清咸丰年间和20世纪80年代两次重修。[4][5]

旺岭村的华山李氏大宗祠是明洪武二十四年（1391年）起建的祠堂，格局为四进院落，硬山顶、穿斗式梁架；2000年11月成为茂名市文物保护单位，到2023年6月又被公布为茂名市「第二批不可移动革命文物」，抗日战争时期曾是茂化吴梅边区党组织的活动据点。[7]据博雅地名网，这座祠堂与旺岭古塔等一起组成旺岭华山李氏大宗祠古建筑群。[4]

洪恩堂在南岭村委会新塘村的金狗坡岭上，坐南朝北，据载建于元代，由当地李氏四世祖李汉卿带头捐资修建；清代古建筑，是化州市「第四批县级文物保护单位」之一。[6][10]
