荷塘镇在广东省茂名市高州市的西部，东面是宝光街道，南面是沙田镇和镇江镇，北面是南塘镇和石板镇，西面隔界与化州市那务镇相接。全镇下设1个社区和12个行政村，以种植荔枝、龙眼闻名。[1][2]

荷塘原属顿梭镇。1995年，顿梭镇与宝光街道合并，同时分出一部分设立荷塘镇。[1]设镇的日期，社区页写作1995年4月5日。[6]地名资料说，此地地势低洼，遍种莲藕，镇名由此而来。[1]

地理环境[edit]

全镇面积约116平方千米。博雅地名网记，第七次全国人口普查时全镇人口2.48万人，在高州市各街道乡镇中居第25位，面积居第12位；镇概况页则写作33000人（未注年份）。[1][2]新修的水泥公路通到各村。[2]

经济[edit]

荷塘是高州荔枝、龙眼的重要产区，据镇概况页，荔枝与龙眼各种有4.5万亩，当地还推广无公害栽培。[2]粮食以稻谷为主，另有蔬菜、药材和生猪。该页还说，镇内曾以山塘管理区为优质稻基地，古楼管理区为养猪基地，塘湾管理区为药材基地；富田桥的油浆豆腐已有数百年历史，销往海外和港澳。[2]这些内容出自较早的概况，现状以当地最新资料为准。

帝坑村产的香蕉，以「荷塘帝心欢香蕉」之名入选广东省名特优新农产品；珠海市拱北海关曾对口帮扶该村。[1]伦村村的火龙果、东埇村的龙眼，也先后进入2021年的广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单。[4][5]

  • 2023年4月，荷塘镇名列2022年度广东省乡村治理示范镇创建单位。[1]

镇政府所在的荷塘社区在荷塘圩，1999年设居民委员会。各村的名称多有来历：帝坑村原叫低坑，李氏迁入后取唐代李氏称帝之意改名；存心村以徐氏上祖徐存心之名为村名；六双村起初称六庄，因韩、杨、叶、邱、张等姓聚居；大利村由刘、杨、张三姓定居，取吉利之意。[3]各村另有条目。
