地名由来[edit]

据博雅地名网所载，此处山坡原先茅草和树木繁盛，叫茅坡，后因位于镇驻地西面而改称西茂坡。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

新中国成立后，茂坡村设茂坡乡政府；1958年建茂盛高级社，随后属大同公社茂坡管理区；1960年石板公社成立后称茂坡大队；1983年称西茂坡乡，1986年起称农村管理区，1999年设村民委员会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，西茂坡被列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」；2021年12月，获「广东省卫生村」称号（广东省爱卫会，2021年12月）。[1]
