石板镇位于广东省茂名市高州市西北部，地处粤桂两省、三个县市的交界一带，辖1个社区和13个行政村，镇政府设在石板圩。[1][2]镇名来自南部塘基头村冼太庙旁的一块大石板。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

1961年设石板公社，1983年改设石板区，1986年底撤区建镇，原区所辖12个乡并为石板镇。[1]维基百科则记作1987年建镇。[3]

地名由来[edit]

塘基头村在镇南，村中冼太庙旁有一块数十平方米的天然巨石，相传镇名即由这块石板而来。[1]

地理环境[edit]

镇东邻大井镇，南接顿梭镇和化州市宝墟镇，西与广西北流市相连，北靠荷花镇。省道仙松线穿过全镇，是高州西北部的交通要道。[2]镇域总面积约102平方公里，丘陵山区居多，当地概况提到的矿产有瓷土矿、云母石、玄武岩、花岗岩等。[2]

据博雅地名网转载的镇概况（未注年份），镇内形成了粮食、水果、鱼禽畜、蔬菜四个农业生产基地，荔枝约2.86万亩、龙眼约2.39万亩、香蕉约1.18万亩，水果合计6.5万亩；粮食总产量10297吨。工业涉及手套、纺织、木器加工、建材、矿产和燃料等行业，全镇企业929家，其中手套企业35家。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2022年1月，石板镇获评「2021年度广东省卫生城镇」。[1]
