海滨街道在吴川市区的东南面，湛江市吴川市辖下，南边直面南海，设新兴、博茂、塘尾、鸿城、梅逢5个社区，土地面积17.8平方千米，建制始于1997年3月[1][2]。

历史沿革[edit]

这片地方原先分属大山江和塘尾两个街道，1997年3月划出另立；5月获批成立街道，办公与吴川市开发区合在一起，直到2001年12月才各自独立[1][2]。街道办事处驻梅逢居委会辖区[2]。

地理环境[edit]

四至为：东临袂花江分洪河，西靠塘尾分洪河，北到人民路，南濒南海[2]。境内多丘陵；东南沿海土质偏沙，北部由袂花江分洪河冲积成沙泥地，海边滩涂广布[2]。当地湿润的亚热带季风气候，年均气温23℃，年降水1300至1500毫米，台风多出现在6至9月[2]。林地共8670亩，海岸一线栽木麻黄作防护林，中部岭地种桉树[2]。

据街道概况，2012年农业总产值为11500万元，捕捞水产2909吨，海水养殖产出1487吨[2]。工业方面有海底特种电缆厂和数家饼业公司；当年第二、第三产业合计产值16.35亿元，其中第三产业企业有1027家[2]。万和城、汇景蓝湾等楼盘建成后，街道把打造吴川中央商务区作为发展方向[2]。

文化教育[edit]

2012年辖区有小学7所，学生3629人，另有吴川市第二中学和第三中学；办公机构有法院、人大常委会、博物馆及海滨汽车客运站等[2]。
