历史沿革[edit]
村名来历：此地原有大埔东、南、西、中四个村，埔西已另设村委会，余下三村以中村为中心，故名埔中。[1]
沿革：以下由近及远：1999年设置村民委员会；1987年2月迁出，设置埔中管理区；1984年设置大埔乡；1958年设置大埔大队；1956年隶属于大埔大队。[1]

该村在2021年1月入选「湛江市2020年度全市文明村」名单。[1]
