东里镇是广东省湛江市雷州市辖下的镇，位于雷州半岛东部，所在地是向东海延伸的一个小半岛，镇政府设在东里圩，距雷州城区41公里。[1][2]镇域面积136.67平方公里，下辖1个社区和20个行政村。[1]以种植番薯和沿海养殖对虾见长。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

1938年7月，今东里镇一带首次单独设治。1947年立东里区，下领东里、雷高、调风、官贤、新寮五乡，1949年2月改建东里乡。[1]其后的名称依次是：先锋公社（1958年）、东里区（1961年）、东里公社（1974年）、东里区公所（1984年），1988年定为东里镇。[1]

镇名有两说并存：一取自“子产居东里”的典故，一与伟家祠堂所挂雷州府赐匾“保固东里”相关。又因与隔海对望的东海岛（旧称大东海）相对，当地俗称东海仔；后称东里圩，政府驻圩，镇名由此而来。[1]

地理与人口[edit]

镇域耕地约四万五千亩，辖21个管理区、132个自然村，博雅地名网所录概况称人口67276人（未注明年份）。[2]第七次全国人口普查（2020年）得出的常住人口为6.82万人，居雷州市各街道乡镇第9位，面积则居第11位。[1]

经济[edit]

传统作物以番薯为大宗，年种两万多亩，总产三万多吨，其次是甘蔗、花生和眉豆；最高亩产曾达一万二千斤。[2]沿海有渔业和盐业，渔船920艘，渔获有大虾、墨鱼、鲳鱼、鱿鱼和海蟹。[2]对虾精养池一万多亩，年产逾1000吨，被称为雷州市对虾的主要产区；泥蚶养殖五百多亩，销往汕头及港澳。[2]

矿产方面已查明锆英矿、钛铁矿和金红矿；镇里办过冷冻、饲料、制砖、选矿、制革等企业。[2]三吉村与英佳塘村因对虾养殖，入选省农业农村厅2020年8月公布的首批「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村。[3][4]

荣誉[edit]

东里镇获「2022年湛江市文明镇」（2022年9月认定）和「2023年广东省卫生乡镇」（2024年3月命名）的称号；2026年3月，被认定为「广东省第三批百千万工程典型村镇」。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

淡水元墓位于北边村水鬼岭，属元代，1976年发掘清理。墓室以青灰砖砌成，顶盖青石板，长3.5米、宽1.4米。出土陶俑一件和刻像砖29块（原有32块），砖上刻十二时辰、四神以及墓门判官等人物与神怪，各附题名。[5]
