雅塘镇在广东省湛江市廉江市的中西部，离市区33千米，现辖2个社区、11个行政村。[1][2]镇名来自镇驻地的雅塘圩，圩市清光绪年间形成，最初叫瓦仔塘豆圩。[2]镇域有唐代干水县的城址，也有清代的青塘桥。[4][8]

历史沿革[edit]

清光绪年间（1875—1908年），瓦仔塘村旁边形成了集市，叫瓦仔塘豆圩，后来改称雅塘圩，镇名由此而来。[2]此地先在1957年立乡；1961年3月办成人民公社；1983年11月政社分设后称区；1987年3月撤区建镇。[2]

抗日战争时期，南路特委的机关设在陀村的“通议第”，特委书记周楠与省委组织部长王均夫妇化装成商人，住进该宅，领导南路的抗日救亡斗争，并为武装起义做准备；这座房子后来已被拆毁。[4]

地理环境[edit]

镇域东邻石岭镇，东南接横山镇，西面与青平镇、营仔镇相邻，北接石颈镇，面积约76平方千米。[2][4]地势东北高、西南低，属低丘陵，坡度15至30度；年均降水量1650毫米，年均气温22.7℃，气候属南亚热带季风类型。[4]省二级公路石石线由北向南穿过镇区，据博雅地名网所载，到渝湛高速约10分钟车程。[4]

人口[edit]

据百度百科所载，2018年全镇户籍人口57260人；第七次全国人口普查（2020年）的结果为3.27万人，在廉江市各街道乡镇中居第20位。[1][2]

经济[edit]

镇内有石灰石、高岭土、河沙等矿产，已探明石灰石储量500万吨、高岭土1200万吨。[4]当地土产还包括三黄鸡、塘虱鱼、花腥鱼及蒜头、红烟等。[4]据百度百科，2017年上半年全镇生产总值约3.45亿元，其中农业总产值2.0亿元，规模以上工业总产值约1.27亿元，社会消费品零售额约1.29亿元。[1]

各村的主要农产品不一：松树下村有红橙、荔枝和山地鸡，大人岭村有红橙、香蕉、龙眼，百丰山村种植沃柑，2020年8月入选广东省首批“一村一品、一镇一业”专业村。[5][6]

名胜古迹[edit]

干水县遗址：干水县原名招义县，唐武德五年（622年）设置，天宝元年（742年）改名干水，属罗州，宋代并入石城县。遗址在沙铲河（旧称干水河）边的东街山村，面积约1万平方米，北有尖锋岭、牛路岭，东南有东街山，当年开有运河通到城下码头。城址内可见唐代的黄釉碗、碟、陶罐、瓦片、石柱础和一口古井，城址中部已垦为农田。[4][7]村名东街山，即得自县衙东侧的一座小山。[3]

青塘桥（又称万寿桥）：在陀村东南约1公里的青塘河上，长30多米，用花岗石条铺面，是廉江市文物保护单位，也是该市唯一的古桥。[4][8]据百度百科，桥建于清嘉庆年间，倡建者是监生罗士贤，廉州、高州、雷州三府的六个县共同集资。[8]关于桥墩，博雅地名网说是4个，百度百科说是6个。[4][8]

金鸡塘烈士墓：在江东村金鸡塘村后的山岭上，葬有刘如风、李伍、马进兴三位烈士。[4][9]

荣誉[edit]

雅塘镇2022年9月获认定为「2022年湛江市文明镇」，2024年3月获命名为「2023年广东省卫生乡镇」。[2]
