外村属湛江市廉江市，在石岭镇境内，是该镇辖下的行政村，村委会设在外村东岭，下辖14条自然村；2005年全村938户、3304人。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

外村成村晚于周围的村子，村民习惯把后来定居的村叫作外村，村委会以辖内的外村为名。[1][2]

1950年至1956年为外村乡，1957年称外村大队，1983年复称外村乡，1987年改称管理区，1999年改设村民委员会。[1][2]

2019年9月，外村村列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1][2]

人口民族[edit]

据2005年的统计，全村938户、3304人，汉族约占99.5%，另有壮族、苗族等；姓氏方面，胡姓约占一半，余姓约占两成，另有罗、黄、梁、吴等姓；村民通行哎话（约占95%）和白话。[1][2]

经济[edit]

耕地共2671亩（2005年），种的作物有水稻、薯类和花生；该年粮食产量1620.3吨，渔业产量63吨，经济总收入为950万元。[1][2]

村里的土特产有甘蔗、芋头、蒜头。[1][2]
