城北乡是广东省湛江市徐闻县下辖的乡，在县城北郊，名称即得自这一方位[1]。全乡辖14个行政村，面积约125平方千米，耕地56342亩[2]。2004年底全乡共38910人，全为汉族[2]；据第七次全国人口普查，约3.4万人，在徐闻县各乡镇街道中排第8位[1]。在2024年3月的命名中，该乡名列「2023年广东省卫生乡镇」[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

明清两代，乡境隶太平乡。进入民国后，先后划在徐一区（1931年）、龙华镇（1936年）和附城镇（1941年）名下[2]。新中国成立后，1950年5月仍为徐一区辖地，其后相继并入附城乡（1957年）和附城人民公社（1958年）[2]。到1979年，区一级撤销、改设乡，才有了城北乡之名[2]。2002年9月，邻近大黄乡的3个村委会——大黄、桃园、那练——划入，全乡由此有14个村[2]。

地理环境[edit]

东面是国营南华农场，西面是迈陈镇，北面隔着国营东方红农场和下桥镇，南面则是南山镇与徐城镇[2]。地形平坦，气候为热带季风型：一年日照约2106小时，平均气温23.3摄氏度，降雨约1364毫米[2]。耕作层是玄武岩风化成的砖红壤，中部有三阳桥水库[2]。三阳桥水库建于1959年，在迈陈河上，正常库容1543万立方米，集雨面积32平方千米[4]。

经济[edit]

据概况所载，该乡发展为南亚热带农业示范区，有六类生产基地：蔬菜（无公害，1.8万亩）、香蕉（1.4万亩）、芒果、糖蔗、甜玉米和良姜[2]。以2004年计，全乡社会总产值约3.27亿元，农业占一半略多（1.67亿元），工业为0.43亿元[2]。工业项目以烧石灰、碾米、加工石料和木材为主[2]。207国道从乡中穿过，南行约10公里即海安港[2]。

名胜古迹[edit]

邓邦鉴夫妇墓位于文丰园行政村的下井村北境岭，朝向东北偏西南，形制为交椅形，用青石砌成，占地88平方米[3]。墓前围有石柱栏杆，墓门两边各蹲一只石狮[3]。该墓入选广东省第三次全国文物普查的「十大新发现」[3]。
