历史沿革[edit]
建制的变化是：1952年叫东简乡，1958年成为东简大队，1983年大队撤销、复称乡，1986年成了管理区，1989年起由村民委员会管理，延续至今。[1]
百度百科称，东简村眼下归湛江经济技术开发区的东海岛新区代管，居民以非农业人口为主，村集体经营物业工程之类的项目，其中2022年新建的一项物业工程，建设部分已完工。[3]
荣誉[edit]
2019年9月，该村被列入2018年度「广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位；2021年1月，又入选湛江市2020年度的文明村名单。[1]
