川东村是广东省台山市川岛镇的一个行政村，在下川岛东部，东、南、北三面都是海，陆上与独湾村、茅湾村相接，东北方向隔海对着上川岛。村子位于下川岛东面，可以看到海上日出，村名由此而来。[1][2] 川东村的远洋渔业较发达，镇政府称它的渔船队是台山市南沙生产船队的中坚。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

民国时期这里属台山县第五区，称川东乡；1958年成为上川公社的川东大队；1983年下川区设川东乡；1988年改称川东管理区，属下川镇；1999年改为村民委员会，沿用至今。[1]

地理环境[edit]

村域6.15平方千米，地貌是平原与丘陵相间：西部较平，连片农田之间散布着村庄；东部起伏较大。[1][3] 全村有5条自然村，大大小小的海滩7处。[1][2]

各自然村的名字多有来历：曲龙村因村里小路弯弯曲曲而得名；龟山村原是一片海滩，旧时常有海龟上岸；樟木树村因村旁一棵大樟树得名；村前村是在旧村前面另选新址建成的。后门龙村南面约50米就是大湾，东北约100米处是南船湾，这处海湾在20世纪70年代经过修建，至今仍是渔船避风的地方。龟山村东面的东冲湾建有川东码头。[3]

经济[edit]

全村耕地757亩，水田占480亩，岗地占277亩，主要种水稻、花生和番薯。[1] 渔业以深海远洋捕捞为主，重点开发南沙渔场。[1][2]

2021年5月起，驻村干部与村「两委」一起推进乡村振兴，完善村里的配套设施；2024年3月，川东村获评2023年广东省卫生村。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

大湾海滩在下川岛东南部，海边有成片松林。海滩长度，镇政府的村情介绍记为约3千米，川山群岛旅游网的介绍记为约2000米。湾外有七个小岛，有的岛上有沙滩和淡水，与弧形的海滩合称「七星伴月」。[1][2][3]
