合新社区在广东省台山市台城街道的西部，兼有城区和乡村的特点，2002年10月由村委会改制成立。社区设北乐、五龙、富国、台荻4个居民小组，另有13个村民小组，辖10条自然村，以商贸和物业租赁为主要产业。[1][2]

据台城街道办事处的数据，社区面积1.72平方千米，2025年12月常住人口10157人，户籍人口11373人（3596户），流动人口4876人；百度百科记载的面积为3.6平方千米，2024年12月常住人口15603人、户籍人口11888人。[1][2]

地理环境[edit]

社区东面以通济河为界，西到环市西路，北到新宁桥，南到地王广场；环市西路和台荻路从区内穿过，803路至806路公交车经过。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

清代这一带属新宁县的德行都。2002年，原来的村委会改为居委会，设立合新社区。[2]

经济[edit]

社区的产业以商贸和出租物业为主。区内有水果批发市场、新桥副食批发市场和城西市场，以及多家超市，大小商铺、食肆八百多间。[1][2]

城西一带出产塔脚生菜。这种生菜最初只在社区所辖的长盛、富国庄两村村前三分多地里种植，后来扩种到三十多亩；菜叶清脆，掉地易碎，又称「玻璃生菜」，多在农历九月初九前后播种，赶在春节上市。[3]

社区设施[edit]

辖区有医疗机构2家（含社区卫生服务中心），荣华、百乐园、祥龙3所幼儿园，以及凌云古塔等文娱场所。社区在2024年新种苗木203棵，2025年又种了400棵。合新路一带的老旧小区改造工程已获批立项。[1][2]

荣誉[edit]

社区2013年被评为「江门市文明社区」，并获「2012年江门市宜居社区」称号；2019年获「广东省健康促进示范单位」「台山市五四红旗团（总）支部」称号，2023年获评绿色社区。[1][2]
