谢边社区原为谢边村，处大沥镇的广佛走廊，广佛高速公路和广茂铁路穿过，面积3.4平方公里。[1]
地理环境[edit]
村里耕地约300亩，鱼塘230亩；八个村民小组为横滘、西滘、东义、瓜步汛、白坭坎、石桥头、梁边、谢边。[1]
人口民族[edit]
居民1300户，约四千四百人，暂住外来人口六千三百。[1]
经济[edit]
2009年工农业总产值13.78亿元；村组两级纯收入4500万元。辖区企业220多家，从事铝型材、灯饰、五金和钢材加工，另有两个专业市场，农业以种蔬菜为主。[1]
谢边村在2003年10月通过验收成为「广东省卫生村」，2009年获南海区「十好」和谐文明村和体育强村；村里实行小学免费教育，高中以上毕业生助学奖已连续发放10年。[1]
