直街社区是2005年6月把盐步城区原来的直街居委会与华圣居委会合并后成立的，仍叫直街。[1]
地理环境[edit]
以盐步直街为分界，街东归该社区管，一共二十来条自然村，约1.5平方公里；因地处旧城区，同盐步村的管辖范围有交错的插花户。[1]
人口民族[edit]
户籍2450户、9456人，另有流动人口一万零八百左右。[1]
文化[edit]
社区每年举办“书香新直街 文明新生活”读书系列活动，有曲艺、舞蹈、蟾龙诗社和雅苑茶艺等团体；自2008年起与华南师范大学在南海的志愿者结对服务。[1]
曾获广东省「六好」平安和谐社区及南海区「青年文明号」。[1]
