美埭社区是汕头市澄海区澄华街道的社区，位于澄海城区南侧、外砂河北岸，是以涉农为主的社区，辖区面积约0.31平方千米。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

这一带原是韩江出海口，河沙冲积成沙陇。相传董氏最早在此筑坝围垦，随后郑、林、陈、蔡、黄、王等姓从福建迁来。早年有东埭、上埭、埭内、埭仔、下埭等聚落，后并为上埭、美埭两村。[2] 因处上埭下游，俗称尾埭，后改称美埭；相传建村时曾取《论语》「里仁为美」之意称仁美乡。[1][2] 先后归城南镇、城关镇（后称澄城镇）管辖，1996年划入澄华街道。[2]

人口与经济[edit]

社区简介称辖区常住413户、1355人，其中农业人口836人；辖区内有澄海中心市场、水产市场和仁美商场，集体工业用地上建有占地约100亩的工业区，产业有塑料、玩具、工艺、毛衫。[2]
