埔美是汕头市澄海区广益街道的社区，位于澄海中心市区北部，居委会设在中山北路。社区总人口7749人，分为9个居民小组。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村名的来由，地名志说是村落建在埔陇的末端，起初叫埔尾，后来雅称埔美，“尾”与“美”音近。[1][3]相传宋末有村民在此搭寮聚居，旧属海阳县下外莆都辟望；嘉靖四十二年（1563）澄海立县后归澄海县，1921年废都设区时划入在城区。[2]

1945年，埔美与北社、溪墘下、小北门等并为城北镇；1949年再分出，称埔美乡，归城关镇。1953年埔美老乡、埔美新乡和小北门合为埔美乡，1956年又与岭亭、西门两乡合并。1986年设埔美村，1996年1月随澄城镇撤销改属广益街道，2002年设埔美社区。[2]

经济[edit]

社区有民营企业150多家，其中规模以上25家，另有1家上市公司（星辉车模），以玩具礼品业为主。辖区内设有塑料市场、花木市场、水果市场、澄海展览中心和粤海货运中心。[1]

2009年社区工业总产值超过15亿元，集体经营总收入847万元，人均纯收入8262元。社区获过“百强村”“塑料玩具专业村”“民主法治示范社区”等称号。[1]
