平湖新村位于汕头市潮南区井都镇东北部，在练江下游南岸，现有总人口2009人、353户，村域面积760亩。[1]村子是从平湖一带新拓出来的，故名平湖新村。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，村立于明建文元年（1399年），先祖从福建莆田迁来。[1]明、清至民国初年隶属潮阳县黄陇都，1921年属潮阳县第九区。1950年归井都乡，人民公社时期为平湖新大队，其后在1983年作平湖新乡，到1986年改设村委会，1992年一度并入管理区，1999年复归旧制。[1]

经济[edit]

村域内有旱地380亩、水田100亩。据村情简介，2010年上半年村里工农业总产值为150万元，经济总收入410万元。村里建了青年创业园，推进蔬菜机械化种植。[2]2020年8月列入首批广东省“一村一品、一镇一业”专业村（蔬菜）；2026年3月被认定为「广东省第三批百千万工程典型村镇」。[1]
