福明社区在汕头老城区，隶属金平区小公园街道，设立时归同益街道。辖区面积约0.12平方千米。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

福平路与明星里都在辖区内，各取一字合成社区名。[1]

此前归升平区中马街道管辖；2002年1月，原福明、中信两个居委会合并为福明居委会，其后在2003年3月的区划调整中划入同益街道。[1]2019年，新福、永祥、海安、同益四个街道并入新设的小公园街道，社区随之改隶。[2]

社区概况[edit]

辖区内有老妈宫（天后宫）和大埔会馆，后者是八一南昌起义南下部队总指挥部旧址；学校有正始中学、福平路小学和存心特殊教育学校，另有存心善堂，产业涉及食品、毛衫、皮具、五金电器等。[1]2019年9月，福明社区入选「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」。[1]
