历史沿革[edit]
跃进路经过辖区，社区因路得名。[1]
此前归升平区南海街道管辖；2002年，原广州街、上涂坪两个居委会合并为跃进居委会，其后在2003年3月的区划调整中划入海安街道。[1]2019年，新福、永祥、海安、同益四个街道并入新设的小公园街道，社区随之改隶。[2]

辖区内有汕头市第二人民医院、外马路第二小学等机构，老妈宫粽球是当地有名的潮汕小食，主干道为跃进路和外马路。[1]
