举登社区是汕头市金平区鮀江街道的涉农社区，地处桑浦山麓、韩江水畔，总面积0.835平方千米，办公地在大北巷口。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网所载，元初蔡氏先民自潮安沙溪高厦乡迁来创村，其后翁、陈、董、郭、倪等姓陆续定居，村民以捕鱼为生。当年海面广阔，村中竖起高杆挂灯笼，作航标，也用来祭祀「天恩公」，村名因此叫「古灯」。明嘉靖年间村人翁万达官至兵部尚书，部分村民随其赴任，也有迁入蓬洲所城的。清中期礼部尚书蔡新巡察潮汕，奏请为蔡氏建祖祠，并定村名为举登。[1]

1953年举登与金陇、港美、溪东合并为鮀北乡；1956年一度划归月浦乡，1960年划出；1971年6月称举登大队，1974年11月起由汕头市郊区管辖；1984年2月改举登乡，1986年12月改举登村。1996年12月村委会改居委会，2002年1月定名举登社区居委会，2003年3月起属金平区鮀江街道。[1]

社区常年举办龙舟、篮球赛事，是汕头市首批「体育先进社区」；2017年10月获「第一批广东省卫生村」称号。[1]
