赤子香在汤坑社区，离街道办事处约4千米，东邻石楼围，南接汤星、张屋，西隔坪山河与茜坑相望。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清嘉庆或道光年间，李必胜从兴宁迁到老围吓（旧址靠近碧岭社区金碧路）立村，后来搬到现址。村名起于烧香祭拜的「插柱香」，后谐音改为今名。2015年户籍人口182人。[1]

世居的李姓属客家民系，先祖明末由福建迁兴宁，清代中期再迁此地。20世纪90年代采石业兴盛，后来转为出租厂房，到2015年，出租的厂房有1.5万平方米，一年收租180万元。[1]

村内有2座客家传统民居和一座清代的李氏宗祠，宗祠为三进两天井；手抄的《赤子香李氏族谱》正由宗亲会重修。[1]
