汤星在汤坑社区，离街道办事处约5千米，是清末立村的客家聚落。取名寓意这里是「汤坑之星」，曾叫汤新。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

林姓村民从油社村迁来，20世纪70年代又迁入练姓。2015年末户籍人口42人。[1]

传统上以种水稻为生，改革开放后引进「三来一补」企业；2005年成立股份合作公司，集体收入主要来自厂房租金，2015年约有100万元。[1]

村里保留3座土木石结构的客家传统民居和1座1920年代的炮楼。林姓村民与油社、楼角等村共祭油社的林氏宗祠，每年农历八月初一联合祭祖，正月十二还办点灯报喜的仪式。[1]

地理环境[edit]

村西南有海拔526米的打鼓岭，北临坪山河，西南接三洲田水库。[1]
