原先一直隶属新莲，先后是新莲乡、新莲大队、新莲村委会和管理区的一部分；1993年单独分出，成立高莲管理区，1998年改设村委会。[1]

经济[edit]

2026年1月，高莲村获评「广东省第二批百千万工程典型村」。[1]据2025年的报道，高莲村与红星村等地引进共富车间和金砂茶种植项目，带动约600人就近就业。[2]

据仁化县人民政府网站对董塘镇的介绍，高莲村是第二批「百千万工程」典型村，项目建设已完成。[3]
