周前村是广东省韶关市始兴县城南镇的行政村，位于清化河畔，村内的周前古村由清代的周所墟发展而来，2019年进入第五批中国传统村落名录[1][2]。

历史沿革[edit]

明洪武元年（1368年），始兴设守御千户所屯田，驻守长官的姓氏成了地名，周所即其一[3]。周所位于清化河出凉口峡后的平原，是水陆通道的交汇处，上游的竹木、香菇和矿产顺水而下，下游的盐、铁器、布匹和陶瓷逆水而上，曾设官坝墟；清康熙十四年（1675年）特大洪水冲毁官坝墟后，商人在周所村一带另择址建墟[3]。

广东省情网称周所墟始建于清乾隆三十六年（1771年）[2]；《始兴县志》把周所墟列为明代11个墟集之一，也在清代7个常开墟集之内，1948年因陆路交通发展、兵匪之患和经济萧条而闭墟[3]。1961年，周所墟划归新设的城南公社，同前山村合并为周前大队，各取一字得名周前[2][3]。1958年大炼钢铁时，周所塔的砖被拆去砌炉，因塔身坚固才留存下来[3]。1983年皇沙一度并入周前乡，次年分开；1987年成为管理区，1998年设村委会[1]。

名胜古迹[edit]

墟市呈船形，南北向，设东西主街两条、南北横街两条，主街各长160多米，横街各长70余米，街宽4米，用河卵石铺成。街中央为露天市场，中心建有名为“鉴观台”的戏台，台前有两株榕树[3]。省情网列举的遗存有清凉寺塔与戏台，以及旧商铺、民居、茶楼、书院和围楼[2]。2019年，周前村被列入「第五批中国传统村落」名录和第六批广东省古村落名单[1][3]。始兴县投入2000多万元修缮古墟和民居[3]。

荣誉[edit]

周前村在2023年5月获评「2022年广东省卫生村」；2024年4月，村入选「广东省第一批乡村振兴示范村创建名单」[1]。百度百科另载，村在2022年被列为首批省级百千万工程典型村，2024年升为典型示范村[4]。
