西瓜岭村是广州市增城区荔湖街道辖下的行政村，面积约4平方千米，人口2673人，设2个自然村和12个经济合作社，村民靠种养业维持生计[1][2][3]。村内的燕石翔云是明代增城八景之一[4]。

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，明末清初，马姓族群的始祖从紫金迁到此地定居，因一座山岭种西瓜出名，取名西瓜岭[3]。新中国成立后这里是太平大队下辖的自然村，1987年改设村委会时归太平村委会；1989年才从太平村委会分出，单独设西瓜岭村委会，沿用至今[3]。

抗日战争时期，1943年东江纵队在村里组建了抗日自卫中队[1]。据增城区政府介绍，西瓜岭自卫中队旧址是辖区内的不可移动文物保护单位，已完成修缮，计划用作红色旅游教育基地[5]。

经济[edit]

耕地6757亩[2]。2012年村里完成经济股份合作制改革[1]。村集体经济包括商铺出租，如2021年的金盛路商铺项目[1]。

名胜古迹[edit]

燕石翔云在村内燕石公山上，距旧城区约8公里，山顶巨石群中的主石形似飞燕，西面石壁刻有「燕石翔云」题字，1984年被定为增城县的文物保护单位[4]。当地流传与此石有关的传说，农历四月初九还有祈福习俗，据说源于1939年村民抗击土匪后的纪念活动；「燕石翔云传说」在2023年入选增城区第八批区级非物质文化遗产名录[4][5]。百度百科还提到村内有战国窑址[1]。

荣誉[edit]

荣誉方面，村在2012年获生态文明示范村称号，2019年9月进入广东省2018年「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单，2021年12月获广东省卫生村称号；2022年11月被确定为全国综合减灾示范社区（2021年度）；2023年4月公布的广东省2022年乡村治理示范村创建单位名单中也有该村；2024年村歌大赛获银奖[1][3]。
