义沙村位于广州市南沙区横沥镇中部，距镇政府约3千米，清道光十七年（1837年）围垦成田。[1]
名称与历史[edit]
明代此处沙洲浮出水面，称大澳沙；明末清初万顷沙洲形成，这块沙洲位于其后，粤语“二”与“义”读音相近，因而叫二沙，写作义沙。[1]清代属香山县黄旗潭州乡，民国属中山县第九区，1959年划入番禺县大岗公社，并设义沙大队。1974年大队从东风大队分出，1987年改设村民委员会。[1]
据《番禺县镇村志》，义沙片包括新兴、前进、大元、义沙、长沙五村。[1]
概况[edit]
村域约2平方千米，耕地3009亩，产过义沙粉葛和义沙西芹，2007年获「广州市蔬菜专业村」称号。2012年南沙新区规划获批后，村域划入明珠湾起步区。[1]
