桥南街道在广州市番禺区中部，市桥河（市桥水道）南岸，2002年3月挂牌设立，由原市桥镇分设而来。辖区面积17.85平方千米，下辖南郊、陈涌、蚬涌、草河4个行政村和10个社区[1][2]。

历史沿革[edit]

1993年9月，市桥镇撤销，改设市桥街道；2001年11月，市桥街道一分为四，桥南为其中之一[1][3]。街道办事处于2002年3月28日挂牌，名称取自它位于市桥河南岸[1]。成立时仅辖南郊村一个村，外加华景、绣品、福景、华荟四个社区，时辖面积2.6平方千米[1]。2007年1月1日，原属沙湾镇的陈涌、蚬涌、草河3个村和陇枕社区划入，辖区扩至现有范围[1][2]。此后随着住宅小区增多，又陆续设立御院、番奥、新世纪、昊龙、可逸阳光5个社区[3]。

地理环境[edit]

辖区地势平坦，三面临水，共有大小河涌12条，河道长20.5千米，属珠江三角洲的沙田水乡地貌[3]。北隔市桥水道与市桥街道、大龙街道相望，南隔沙湾水道与东涌镇相对，西接沙湾街道，东与石碁镇隔河相望[4]。

人口[edit]

2022年末，街道常住人口为105091人，包括65300名本地户籍居民，以及39791名来穗人员和广州市内其他地区户籍者[3]。2020年第七次全国人口普查，街道人口为11.75万人[1]。

经济[edit]

桥南原是沙田农耕区，今以第三产业为主。街道利用番禺大道沿线形成的汽车服务业集聚，扶持汽车销售服务企业，至2024年初已有16家限额以上企业落户[3]。商业设施有奥园广场、奥园养生广场、大润发购物广场和哈街商业街等[3]。2025年，街道推动5个工业用地提容项目，计划总投资约32.6亿元[2]。

文化[edit]

南郊村、陈涌村有端午游龙、赛龙舟的传统，陈涌村自2000年起每年举办敬老宴[3]。南区公园位于福德路奥园广场南侧，占地9.6万多平方米，园内设有番禺区图书馆桥南分馆[3]。2025年，桥景滨水公园对公众开放[2]。
