杏园社区隶属海珠区江南中街道，名称来自辖内的住宅小区杏园小区。[1] 2002年3月，原江南中街道的紫山、紫玉居委会并入杏园居委会，沿用至今。[1] 社区老党员傅明乾牵头为旧楼加装电梯，历时约4年半建成，街道在2024年的宣讲活动中将此作为居民自治的事例，并称其为广州市首座由私人组织加装的电梯。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，杏园社区榜上有名，列在「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」之中；2021年11月，获广州市住建部门评为「广州市2021年绿色社区」；2024年11月，入选「2024年广州市充分就业社区（村）」。[1]
