华侨新村社区位于广州市越秀区，由华乐街道管辖，辖区即华侨新村。华侨新村是新中国成立后为归国华侨兴建的大型住宅区，博雅地名网记其1954年动工、1965年落成；它在黄花岗公园西侧、环市东路以北，是广州市首批历史文化街区之一。[1][2][3]
历史沿革[edit]
1954年8月，广州市第一届人民代表大会通过了筹建华侨新村的决议，当年10月，白云山南麓约25万平方米土地划作建设用地，11月成立筹建委员会。[2] 1955年5月15日举行奠基仪式，时任广州市市长朱光主持，归侨侨眷两千多人到场；当时环市路尚未成形，附近只有一栋电报大楼。[2][3]
1956年4月，华侨小学先行建成使用；至1965年，共建成177座独院住宅与291座公寓。[2] 社区的前身，是黄花岗街道在1953年设立的第六居委会；1986年1月华乐街道建立，该居委会划归其下，定名华侨新村居委会。[1]
1985年，村内的人工湖被填平，在其上建起文化假日酒店。[2] 2021年，新村接受市里的老旧小区微改造，翻新了道路、台阶和围墙外立面，并建起智慧停车、无人机安防巡查等管理设施。[2]
地理环境[edit]
村子的范围，东到黄花岗公园，西到淘金路，南自环市东路起，北至广深铁路；村里五条街道互相连通，依次为团结路、爱国路、光明路、和平路、友爱路。[2] 面积在维基百科中约为0.22平方千米，百度百科记为68万平方米，首期规划用地则为25公顷，几处所指范围不一。[2][3]
规划时依据蚬壳岗、玉子岗、蟠龙岗三个小山岗的地势起伏布置，住宅分甲、乙、丙、丁多种式样，以二层独院式为多。[2] 村南的牌坊建于2000年。[2]
人口民族[edit]
据百度百科，现有归侨侨眷1500多人在村内居住，分别来自二十多个国家和地区。[3]
文化[edit]
2012年，国务院侨务办公室授予华侨新村「全国社区侨务工作明星社区」称号。[2][3] 社区在2015年3月被认定为「第三批国家级充分就业社区」，2021年11月获广州市住建部门列为「广州市2021年绿色社区」，2024年11月入选「2024年广州市高质量就业社区」名单。[1]
著名人物[edit]
曾在村中居住的有粤剧艺术家马师曾（1955年自香港回广州后住此，直到1964年去世）、红线女（1957年起定居）、作家秦牧和《华商报》创办人邓文钊等。[2]
