六榕街道是广东省广州市的越秀区所辖街道，在区的中西部，因辖内的六榕寺和六榕塔得名。街道东起解放北路，西至荔湾路，南抵中山六路、净慧路和西华路一线，北接流花路，辖区面积约2.04平方千米，下设16个社区[1][3]。2020年第七次全国人口普查时，街道常住人口为71163人[1]。街道办事处设在六榕路129号和133号[3]。
历史沿革[edit]
清代，这一带属南海县西堡；民国初年划入广州市政厅二区，后来归宣德区管辖[1]。中华人民共和国成立后，辖区先后属宣德区、北区，1960年以后属越秀区[4]。
六榕街道成立于1950年。1968年一度改称朝阳北街道，1985年恢复原名[4]。1999年，原解放北街道并入，仍用六榕街道的名称[1]。2013年2月，广州市人民政府批复撤销东风街道，其辖区划归六榕街道管理[2]。今日的16个社区经过几次合并重组，司马坊、嘉和苑和驷马涌等社区在2013年才改属六榕街道[4]。
地理环境[edit]
街道位于广州老城区的北部，解放北路、东风西路、六榕路等干道穿过辖区。因统计口径不同，各来源给出的面积不一：区政府的街道简介称总面积2.04平方千米，维基百科和博雅地名网转述2013年调整后的数字为0.87平方公里[2][3][4]。
人口[edit]
区政府的简介称街道户籍人口约10万人[3]；维基百科记载2013年调整后的户籍人口为48690人[2]；2020年第七次全国人口普查的常住人口为71163人，在越秀区各街道中居第6位[1][4]。三组数字的统计范围和年份不同，不宜直接相比。
经济与机构[edit]
辖区内有省级机关、事业单位、媒体机构，以及知用中学、二十七中学、东风西路小学等学校[3]。百度百科引用的2019年数据显示，街道当年新增规模以上企业35家，新增商事主体1193家[1]。近年来街道推进「六榕创新街区」建设，围绕文化、金融、科技和音乐发展产业，广州国际金融大厦和686创意园是其中两个经济核心[8]。
名胜古迹[edit]
街道以六榕寺得名。寺内的六榕花塔为八角形楼阁式砖塔，外观9层、内部17层，塔高57米；寺院始建于南朝，元符三年（1100年）苏轼来游，题下「六榕」二字，后人刻成石匾，寺名由此流传[5]。六榕寺位于文园巷社区辖内。
南越文王墓是西汉初年南越国第二位君主赵眜的陵寝，位于象岗山社区，墓室凿入象岗山腹中，由七个墓室组成，1996年11月随同相邻的两处遗址一并公布为全国重点文物保护单位（第四批）[6]。街道办事处的介绍还提到越王井和三元宫[3]。
流花湖社区辖内的流花湖公园建于1958年，1959年10月对外开放，总面积54.43万平方米，水面约占三分之二；园内的流花西苑以岭南派盆景闻名[7]。

街道下辖16个社区。其中不少社区的名字来自旧日的地名或机构：旧南海县社区源于明代南海县署，稻谷仓社区源于清代八旗兵的稻谷仓，第一津社区、凉亭坊社区和司马坊社区得名于居委会所在的街巷，驷马涌社区得名于清代的水涌[4]。
