泮塘社区是广州市荔湾区昌华街道下辖的社区，所在的泮塘一带，东西向依次是首约、二约、三约、四约和五约，四周以中山八路、龙津西路、荔枝湾路和荔湾湖为界。[1] 至少有九百年的村史，其中五约的村落形态保存最完整。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

唐代以后珠江泥沙淤积成陆，这一带地势低洼，池塘密布，最初称「半塘」；明清时「半塘」「泮塘」通用，清中后期以「泮塘」为主，村民借学宫「泮水」之意，期望子弟入泮读书。[1] 南宋《舆地纪胜》提到的「刘王花坞」在泮塘，是「泮塘」一名见于文献的起点；南汉国主曾在此营建花坞。[1]

清代这里以种荔枝为业，称「红云十里」，广州一口通商时期，富商先后在此建唐荔园、海山仙馆等园林。[1] 抗日战争爆发后，名园先后湮没。[1]

文化[edit]

仁威庙据《续修南海县志》，建于北宋皇祐四年（1052年），出自村民自筹，村史九百年之说即由此推算。[1] 三官古庙建于清初，农历十月十五日「水官」诞辰有祭拜习俗。[1] 村里延续着北帝诞、端午扒龙舟、舞狮、蔡李佛拳等民俗；泮塘龙舟与佛山南海盐步龙舟有结契往来的传统。[1]

清代进士黄其表出自泮塘；医家邱熺曾在此建唐荔园，推广牛痘接种；粤曲演员李少芳故居在泮塘直街。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2022年8月，社区被确定为2022年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位，同年11月被认定为广州市绿色社区。[3] 居委会设在中山八路泮塘五约四巷12号。[3]

经济[edit]

旧时泮塘水田多，出产莲藕、慈姑、马蹄、茭笋和菱角，合称「泮塘五秀」；马蹄糕是广州点心之一。[1] 五约的微改造于2017年立项，分两期：先整治管网等基础设施和老屋外立面，再改造已征收的房屋，增设活动中心和小市场；街区引进了四十多家文化类商户，约八成半的物业已活化使用。[2] 当时五约原住村民约120户。[2]
