村尾村位于清源镇西南部，处在西山顶脚下，海拔460至580米。它是乌石岭坡下数村中最下端的一个村，俗称矮山，村名由此而来。村内有村尾、溪岗、铁科三个自然村，范姓最早迁入，村中大姓为范、吴两姓。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

博雅地名网称，清雍正八年（1730年）范姓由庆元大岩迁居乌石岭，为第一世；另称范氏祖先在1560年迁来此地定居。两说年代不同，并存于此。[1][2]

此地先隶属第二区斜滩区的竹坪乡，后划归鳌阳区竹坪小公社。1965年起由岱阳公社设为村尾大队，1981年改称清源公社村尾大队。1984年撤社建乡后，成为清源乡村尾村委会，2017年9月改为清源镇村尾村委会。县政府行政区划资料至2022年仍把它列为清源镇的行政村之一。[2][3]

地理环境[edit]

全村地域面积1平方千米，原为深山密林。全村148户、561人，其中村尾、溪岗、铁科为三个自然村，共6个村民小组。[1]

村中大姓为范、吴两姓，另有陈、杨、胡等姓。主村人口二百多人，以上为博雅地名网所载，未注年份。[1]
