后坪村地处古田与南平交界，距镇区约13公里，海拔500多米，是黄田镇较偏僻的行政村之一。村名的来历是村子坐落在一座大山的背面，那里有一片草坪。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1949年设立后坪村，此后的1958年组建了后坪大队，1970年归莪洋公社管辖。1984年改为莪洋镇辖下的村民委员会，1990年起隶属黄田镇。[1]

2005年至2012年，借造福工程搬迁的村民共683人，分别迁到镇区的后坪造福新村、横山新村和马岗三处。[1]

经济[edit]

青壮年多外出做生意或打工，农忙时回村种田、种西瓜。[1]

文化[edit]

福建省爱卫办于2021年11月授予后坪村「2021年福建省卫生村」称号。[1]
