东湖社区位于蕉南街道东部，因建于东湖塘围垦形成的陆地之上而得名，东临天王路，与东侨经济开发区毗邻。[1]

2021年2月，社区列入「福建省2018—2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单；同年11月，社区获福建省爱卫办命名，称号为「2021年福建省卫生社区」。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

社区居民委员会建立于2001年12月7日，此后名称未再变动。[1]

地理环境[edit]

社区北侧为东湖路，西侧为宁川路。[1]

社区内以高层住宅为主，有长兴城商业步行街，两侧有商业楼宇与银行，还有一片居民自建楼院和东湖新村。[2]
