下东村位于武平县城厢镇，地处城郊，离县城约3公里，古武高速公路紧邻村子，省道205线自境内穿过。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村西有溪流，此地旧称溪东；因位于小溪南段的下游，改称下东。民国时称溪东保，隶属城厢镇。[1]

1952年改设溪东乡，同属城厢区；1958年改为大队，归城关公社管辖。1961年改属城郊分社，1965年重新并入城关公社，1983年划归城厢公社。1984年设立下东村委会，归城厢镇管辖，村名沿用至今。[1]

经济[edit]

村民多从事种养殖业，近年也发展了脐橙种植。[2]

文化[edit]

2024年1月，下东村列入2023年度龙岩市「平安村居（社区）」名单。[1]
