东塘村是白砂镇下辖的行政村，村名原为郭公塘，文革时期改称东塘。全村辖东塘、寨子头2个自然村，村委会驻东塘。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

相传早年有郭氏在此开基，村中有鱼塘，故称郭公塘。之后郭姓不知去向，李姓迁入，文革时期为美化村名，改称东塘。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

民国时为郭公塘保。解放初归另一村，1951年属官将乡，1956年组成高级社。[2]

公社化后，东塘改隶白砂公社官将管理区，1961年析出，称官将公社官塘大队；1965年两公社合并，仍属白砂公社官塘大队。1968年东塘从该大队分出，称白砂公社东塘大队革领组；1984年改为白砂乡东塘村民委员会，1993年改为白砂镇东塘村民委员会。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2021年11月，东塘村列入2021年福建省卫生村名单。[1]
