村子在县城东郊，与城区相接，交通便利，区位条件突出。村名由黄砂口、竹岐头两个大自然村的首字组合而来。[1]

人口与经济[edit]

村中有党员50人，8个村民小组，共424户、1559人。土地总面积13171.6亩，山地占8951亩，耕地仅223亩；森林覆盖率为51.4%。[1]

土地肥沃，适宜水稻、蔬菜、果树、茶叶等经济作物生长。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

民国时此地属保甲建制下的一保。1957年冬撤区并乡后归城郊乡，1958年公社化后隶属城郊公社。[2]

1961年体制划小，单设黄竹大队，同年10月又归城郊公社。1968年起改称革委会革领组，1980年起由管委会管理。1984年起为城郊乡下属村，1986年改属临城乡，1993年称临城镇黄竹村民委员会。[2]

文化[edit]

2021年1月，黄竹村获「2020年度龙岩市平安村居（社区）」称号。[1]
