古城村是古城镇集镇所在的村，地处长汀县西部门户，距长汀县城约22公里，与江西省瑞金市相邻。赣龙铁路、龙长高速公路和319国道穿村而过。[1]

地名由来[edit]

相传宋代，村境内筑有土城，扼守山岭隘口，自古设有兵营，村名“古城”由此而来。[2]

人口与村情[edit]

据2012年的资料，全村共798户、3210人，分为6个自然村和23个村民小组，党员96名。[1]

土地总面积16380亩，其中耕地1709亩，林地12932亩。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

建国初期，村子划在中都片区内。1958年以后的名称为下街大队，1984年体制改革时改设古城村民委员会。[2]
