东埔村原名大埔，村地平坦，水源充足，人口稠密。因童坊镇也有一个大埔村，又因位于县城东面，才改称东埔。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

民国时村属第一区，建国后先设大埔乡；1959年改为大埔管理区，隶属红旗公社。1960年公社化时设大埔大队，1965年工委撤销后仍属附城公社，此后易名东埔大队，至1984年为东埔村民委员会所取代。[1]
