西安社区位于新罗区西城街道，由旧西安村改设，是街道下辖的社区之一。前清时此地称西坊，因位于县城西方而得名，后取安居乐业之意改称西安坊。[1][2]

社区先后于2005年10月、2009年1月列入第一届、第二届「全国文明村镇」名单，2018年7月获司法部、民政部表彰为「第七批全国民主法治示范村（社区）」。福建省爱国卫生运动委员会在2022年12月将其命名为「福建省卫生社区」。2020、2022、2023年度，社区均获龙岩市「平安村居（社区）」称号。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

民国26年（1937年）设为西安联保，民国30年（1941年）改隶西墩乡。1949年11月改称西安村，属西陈区。[2]

1956年归城关镇。1958年此地改由城关公社管理，成为西安生产大队。1979年又改属城关镇，并设西安居委会，此后归西城街道办事处管辖。西安村于1984年设村委会，1992年转为居委会，至2003年才以西安社区居委会的名称出现。[2]

著名人物[edit]

郑起英，字濯斯，西城西安村人，生于清光绪二十三年（1897年），卒于1982年。自曾祖至郑起英，家中四代行医，他擅长小儿科，1914年随父学医，1919年起独立开业，先后开设寿堂氏药房、物华药局。[1]
